Applesauce does not engage. Not with the politics, not with the hierarchy, not, on most days, with the other hens at all.
She stands. She looks at things. She moves to a different spot and stands there. Whatever she is doing, she is doing it without commentary, and she is doing it on her own schedule.
It is genuinely unclear what she is thinking. It is possible she is thinking nothing. It is possible she has worked something out that the rest of us are still missing.
